Gaikwad, the new captain of CSK, said it is a privilege and a huge responsibility
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the newly appointed captain of Chennai Super Kings, has expressed his initial reaction after taking on the role from MS Dhoni. Dhoni relinquished his position as captain of the team that won the IPL five times just before their first match. Dhoni had been at the helm of the squad since its establishment in 2008 and had steered them to five championship victories. Nonetheless, the 42-year-old will remain part of the team and is anticipated to be present for the entirety of the season.
CSK’s newly appointed captain, Gaikwad, shared his initial thoughts following the announcement, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledging the weight of responsibility that comes with it. The 27-year-old reflected, “It feels good. It’s an honour. More importantly, it’s a significant responsibility, but I’m genuinely excited because of the calibre of our team. With experienced players all around, there isn’t much for me to worry about. Having Mahi bhai, Jaddu bhai, and Ajju bhai on board, who have excelled in leadership roles, provides me with great guidance. So, I’m simply looking forward to enjoying the journey ahead.”
